So much to see and do! Our field guides and information binder will help you plan your days of exploration and discovery on the Big Island. The biggest draw right now is the new lava flow! Only about 20 minutes away, the viewing area is open from 2 to 10pm each day. Don't miss Mother Nature's fireworks! Pahoa Town is only a 5 minute drive, with grocery and health food stores, many good restaurants, shops, a Post Office, free community pool, and more. Whale-watching in season (November-March), sea turtles and dolphins, black sand pocket beaches, natural warm ponds, snorkeling, tide pools, and lava flows... all in our own Puna District! There are several Farmer's Markets nearby for fresh produce, live music, souvenirs, and mingling with the locals. We're only 30 minutes from Hilo, with all its museums, shops, beach parks, and bigger grocery stores... and the world-famous 3-block Farmer's Market twice a week. On the way to Hilo, stop in at the Macadamia Nut Factory for a little tour and free samples. The Panaewa Rainforest Zoo is a real treat where you can meet Namaste, the white bengal tiger! Volcano National Park is only 40 minutes away and well worth a day or two to explore. |
